Lowering Inflammation
Hi All!
I'm Megan from Gentle Wellness Center. As a Certified Colon Hydrotherapist, and Holistic Nutritionist I'm often asked about inflammation. What to do to combat inflammation, how to prevent, treat, and get rid of it...
Here's the thing, every body type varies as to when and how long the body will heal...no matter what we do, there is always going to be at some point in time inflammation that we will have to deal with. If you are someone dealing with an auto immune disorder, rheumatoid arthritis, lymes disease, chronic fatigue, or even a standard cold/flu you are dealing with inflammation.
What you can do on a continuous basis is changing the little things in your life. Cutting processed sugar, this is one of the biggest inflammatory responses to the human body; studies show that people who consume more than 38 grams of sugar is too much sugar. One protein bar can contain over 30 grams of sugar easily, if you're eating one protein bar and then having some jam on your toast then you daily sugar limit will most likely exceed your daily limit! Now, this is not to be confused with fruit sugars, I often times hear people say they are off fruit because it contains “too much sugar”. Fruit sugar is broken down in the body very easily and quickly without spiking blood sugar levels due to the fiber in fruit buffering the effects of the glucose.
With that being said, besides having a good diet of unprocessed foods, no refined white sugar, limiting alcohol, and controlling stress you also have to look into your daily house hold items. Are you using a water filter to filter out chlorine, and heavy metals from our municipal water supply? If not, be sure to purchase a high quality water filter...not just for your shower head but for your drinking water. That alone will help the inflammatory markers in the body.
Having some low maintenance house plants that can filter the quality of the air at home, and getting a good air purifier. With the smog of living in Los Angeles, the recent fires we've endured, and not to mention vaping our poor lungs are often over looked. At Gentle Wellness Center we carry Super Lung Support a product formulated to help detoxify the lungs.
So now we've addressed what to avoid and to consume, let's discuss our external environment. By switching your dish soaps, house hold cleaning supplies and your beauty products you are cutting down on formaldehyde, sodium lauryl sulfates (sls), ammonia, perchloroethylene, and other various toxic chemicals that we inundate ourselves with on a daily basis!
Where do you start?
Go to your natural grocery store, most of the time all your beauty essentials, shampoos, conditioners, and cleaning products can be found at your local co-op. My favorite household cleaner is vinegar diluted with water and baking soda...when I want to jazz the smell up I add some DoTerra essential oils, or buy their all purpose On Guard cleaner. It really is a miracle multi use product that smells amazing, and cleans the air with their therapeutic grade essential oils. Lastly, our Miracle II products that we use in our liquid hand soap and lotion are both toxic free!
I know this may have been a ton of information as to where to start, but these simple switches and tips will keep you and your loved ones healthier in the long run. Remember, that your health is your greatest asset, if you keep your home and body in tip top shape you can enjoy life a little bit more.

Megan
